Oya takashi Shuzo brewery was founded in 1830 and has been brewing local sake by using the underground water from the Tanzawa water systems.The main characteristic of this brewery is that it uses only rice and koji, the traditional ingredients of Japanese sake, to brew all of its sake.A huge zelkova tree which is over 400 years old grows in front of the main building of the brewery, a truly magnificent and historic tree.
